Attend a Meeting

We generally meet on the third Friday of each month (except December) from 7.30pm at Uniting Church Hall, Cnr Tor St and North St, Toowoomba.

History

SGAP Toowoomba was established in the 1970’s to provide assistance and advice to the local community on the benefits of growing Australian Native Plants. More recently we have joined Native Plants Queensland and are now known as Native Plants Queensland – Toowoomba Region.

Projects

• Community involvement – Members offer assistance and advice on Native Garden Development and Plant Selection
• Plant Sales – During Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers volunteers man a plant stall with quality native plants suitable to the local area and provide advice
• Toowoomba Agricultural Show – During Show time we promote exhibits of Native Plants that are grown in the Region

Local Interest

Peacehaven Botanic Garden – Family friendly garden providing picnic, BBQ and playground equipment. The gardens and lawns are maintained by Toowoomba Regional Council and supported by volunteers from the group Friends of Peacehaven.

Crows Nest Community Nursery – The native plant nursery is supported by Toowoomba Regional Council and is run by volunteers. The nursery grows Native Plants from the local region and sells to the public.

Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers – Held annually in September and attracts people from many parts of Australia and overseas. The carnival provides an opportunity to showcase all types of gardens and plants.
