NPQ Spring Gathering

This gathering will be hosted by the Caboolture Branch. All NPQ members and friends are invited to attend.

Date and Time: Saturday, 10 September, 2022 9.30am to 2.30pm

Venue: Caboolture Region Environmental Education Centre, 150 Rowley Road, Burpengary.

The development of the CREEC site began in 1997 by the then Caboolture Shire Council and is currently administered by Moreton Bay Regional Council. The site, previously a pine plantation from 1970 to 1990, covers 18 hectares along a 2km boundary with Burpengary Creek which includes sites for Bureau of Meteorology stream gauge and Healthy Land and Water monitoring program. Facilities on the site include a native plant nursery with a section used by Caboolture Branch, macadamia plantation, koala food tree plantation, sensory garden, walking tracks, multi-purpose building and an all-inclusive play space.

Directions and Parking

The venue (UBD Map 67:M15) is best approached if travelling north from Exit 142 on the Bruce Highway and then New Settlement Road, Burpengary Road and Rowley Road; or if travelling south from Exit 146 on the Bruce Highway and then Uhlmann Road, Morayfield Road, Station Road and Rowley Road. Off street parking areas are flagged on the map, (see opposite page).

Program Outline

9.30am to 10.15am Meet and greet for morning tea (provided)

10.15am to 10.30am Welcome, introduction to the site and outline of the program

10.30am to 11.30am Presentations by NPQ Caboolture members and guest presenters

11.30am to 12.30am Choice of Walks. Bring hat, closed walking shoes, sun screen, repellent

  • Burpengary Creek Circuit (including macadamias and koala eucalypts)
  • Native plant nursery (purchases possible) and sensory garden

12.30pm to 1.30pm Lunch to share. Tea and coffee provided

1.30pm to 2.30pm Chance to choose alternative walks if desired

2.30pm Tea or coffee before the journey home
